Guided Walk - Alstonefield and Milldale

Service Description

Alstonefield and Milldale Special Event No freedom passport needed to book on. Open to all NWUK and Walx Members Meeting at 9:30am setting off as soon as everyone is ready! We'll head out from Alstonefield (a small village which lies on the borders of Derbyshire and Staffordshire, on the watershed between the valleys of the Dove and the Manifold rivers) along lanes through fields with great views before dropping down to the River Dove, which is a magnet for many a photographer. From there we'll head along the river in and out of woods to Milldale where refreshments are available from Polly's Cottage and loos too. After snacks we'll head further along the River to the Limestone Pinnacle of Ilam Rock where we'll cross the river and head up the beautiful Hall Dale where we'll pass through the small settlement of Stanshope before a short down and up across another dale before returning to the start at Alstonefield. Distance approx 6miles (10km) 320m Height gain There's no need to worry about navigation, allowing you to take time to soak in the stunning views and enjoy great company. Led by an experienced Nordic Walking Instructor who is Outdoor First Aid Trained and will support you along the way. Whilst we do understand that sometimes it is not possible to make a class, please be aware that we do operate a no refund policy if you give us less than 24 hours’ noticeSpecial Event No freedom passport needed to book on. Our Longer Walks are around 3hrs in length, at our usual pace taking the opportunity to explore different areas in a bit more detail. Sometimes with the option for lunch afterwards too. There's no need to worry about navigation, where to park etc allowing you to take time to soak in the stunning views and enjoy great company.
